ABSTRACT

Objective To provide a scientific basis for the prevention and control of notifiable infectious diseases in preschool children, and to improve the service level of children's health management. Methods Infectious disease information was obtained from the Infectious Diseases Reporting Information System of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the number of permanent residents was obtained from Shanghai Statistical Yearbook. Excel 2019 was used to organize and calculate data and draw charts. Descriptive statistical methods were used for analyzing disease ranking and epidemic trends. Seasonal characteristics were calculated by concentration M value and circular distribution, α=0.05. Results In the reports of notifiable infectious diseases for preschool children, boys (60.93%) were significantly more than girls, and the largest number of children reported were 3-4 years old (43.19%). The unit with the largest number of reports was Shanghai Children's Medical Center (47.31%). The order of the diseases was hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD), chickenpox, mumps, scarlet fever, influenza, and infectious diarrhea. HFMD accounted for 73.52% of the total (46 541/63 304). The incidence of notifiable infectious diseases among preschool children had been increasing since 2005, reaching a peak in 2014, and then showing a downward trend overall. In the 17 years from 2005 to 2021, there were 3 years (2008, 2010, and 2018) with a concentration M value of 0.3-0.5, indicating that there was a certain seasonality, and one year (2020) with an M value of 0.5-0.7, indicating obvious seasonality. The peak of incidence mostly occurred from June to August. Conclusion It is suggested to strengthen the health guidance of HFMD in preschool children and increase the vaccination rate of HFMD vaccine to reduce the health harm of HFMD to preschool children. The prevention and control of COVID-19 has had an inhibitory effect on the occurrence of notifiable infectious diseases in preschool children.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the value and influence factors of preoperative and intraoperative localization of ectopic hyperparathyroidism (EHPT).Methods:Results of 99mTc-sestamibi ( 99mTc-MIBI), neck ultrasound, contrast CT and intraoperative local venous parathyroid hormone (IOLVPTH) were retrospectively analyzed in 205 patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) suspected of EHPT. Results:Incidence of EHPT was 16.6% (34 cases), and 36 ectopic lesions were detected. The proportion of EHPT in antero-superior mediastinum, intrathyroidal, in the retropharyngeal region, in carotid sheath, in the prevertebral region and intrapericardial were 44.1% (15 cases), 29.4% (10 cases), 11.8% (4 cases), 5.9% (2 cases), 5.9% (2 cases) and 2.9% (1 cases), respectively. Contrast CT was the most sensitive (86.1%, 31 lesions/36 lesions) for EHPT, followed by 99mTc-MIBI (66.7%, 24 lesions/36 lesions), IOLVPTH monitoring (61.8%, 21 lesions/34 lesions) and neck ultrasound (55.6%, 20 lesions/36 lesions). Contrast CT was most sensitive,100% in detecting deep-located EHPT lesions, whereas IOLVPTH had advantages in detecting intrathyroidal EHPT lesions, with a sensitivity of 100.0%.The combined use of 99mTc-MIBI and neck ultrasound showed a sensitivity of 77.8% in the localization of EHPT. Conclusions:Contrast CT is highly sensitive in the localization of EHPT. The combined use of preoperative imaging and IOLVPTH monitoring helps to higher localization for EHPT.

ABSTRACT

Natural products, as a gift of nature to humanity, have long been used as drugs or pharmacological actives to help people cure various diseases. Yet we still know comparatively little about their ability to be materials. In recent years, some small molecule natural products isolated from traditional Chinese medicines have been found to have new features, namely, self-assembly to form gels (., natural product gels, NPG). However, the application development of these natural products is seriously lacking, which greatly weakens their practical value and delays the maturity of the field. Here, a series of self-assembled triterpenoid natural products are used as materials (gel scaffolds) to construct drug delivery systems. Surprisingly, these NPG not only exhibit the excellent self-healing, controlled gelation, good safety and sustained release, but also achieve synergistic treatment of tumors through bioactive natural products. Compared with non-bioactive gel scaffolds, NPG scaffolds show great advantages in tumor therapy, including optimal tumor inhibition, preferable health, better body recovery, stronger immune function, less toxic side effects and longer survival. The successful construction of NPG scaffolds not only takes full advantage of the self-assembled natural products, but also takes an important step in the development of new applications for natural products.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the correlations between personality characteristics and life quality of rectal cancer patients. Methods A total of 91 rectal cancer patients were enrolled in the study.Preoperative questionnaire-based survey was conducted for investigation of personality characteristics and life quality using Eysenck personality questionnaire-revised,short scale for Chinese (EPQ-RSC) and European organization for research and treatment, quality of life questionnaire-core 30 (EORTC QLQ-C30).The correlations between personality characteristics and life quality were analyzed. Results The scores on the personality characteristics of rectal patients were significantly higher than norms (all P<0.05).In addition, the scores on constipation, diarrhea and economic difficulties were higher than the norms (all P<0.05).In contrast, the patients with introverted personality were subject to irritability and depression. The score on function was more than 70%.And the total score on health was 61%.The scores on symptoms and dimensions were all less than 40%.The psychoticism was negatively related with role function, extraversion and emotional function were both positively related with general health but negative with fatigue, loss of appetite and diarrhea. The nervosity was negatively related with general health, emotional function and social function, but positively related with fatigue, pains, insomnia, anorexia, financial difficulties. The lie was positively related with role function (all P<0.05).Conclusion This study suggests that targeted psychological intervention will be beneficial for improving the life quality of rectal cancer patients through preoperative analysis of personality characteristics.
